Products Description of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate CAS#15245-12-2
Calcium Ammonium Nitrate is a nitrogen fertilizer produced by melting ammonium nitrate with a specific proportion of limestone and dolomite powder. Its composition mainly consists of a mixture of NH₄NO₃, CaCO₃, and MgCO₃. It contains 21%–26% nitrogen (N) and is available in grayish-white to light-yellow granules or powder form. Its aqueous solution is slightly alkaline.
Calcium Ammonium Nitrate is one of the most soluble calcium-containing chemical fertilizers in the world. With high purity and 100% water solubility, it combines the advantages of an efficient nitrogen fertilizer and a high-quality calcium fertilizer. Due to its excellent physical and chemical properties, it provides multiple benefits:
(1) The main component of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate is calcium nitrate, which provides a high content of fully water-soluble calcium. This calcium can be directly absorbed by plants, effectively alleviating calcium deficiency symptoms such as stunted growth, reduced growth points, terminal bud death, growth inhibition, curled young leaves, leaf edge browning, root tip damage, and fruit disorders such as sunken tops and dark brown necrosis. It also enhances plant resistance to diseases, improves crop quality, and increases economic value.
(2) Plants primarily absorb nitrogen in the form of nitrate nitrogen. Most of the nitrogen in Calcium Ammonium Nitrate exists as nitrate nitrogen, which dissolves quickly in water and can be directly absorbed by crops without requiring prior conversion in the soil. This results in higher nitrogen utilization efficiency, promotes the uptake of nutrients such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, and manganese, and helps prevent various nutrient deficiencies.
(3) Calcium Ammonium Nitrate is a nearly neutral fertilizer that can help improve acidic soils. After application, it causes minimal changes to soil pH, prevents soil compaction, and helps maintain loose soil structure. It also reduces active aluminum concentration, decreases phosphorus fixation by aluminum, and improves plant disease resistance through water-soluble calcium supplementation while promoting beneficial microbial activity in the soil.
(4) Granulated Calcium Ammonium Nitrate offers excellent fertilizer efficiency, good anti-caking properties, and high thermal stability. Compared with similar products, it provides improved safety during transportation, storage, and handling, making it a reliable fertilizer choice for agricultural applications.
