Product Description of Hydroxyethyl Methyl Cellulose CAS#9032-42-2

Methyl hydroxyethyl cellulose (MHEC), also known as hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose (HEMC), is a non-ionic cellulose ether produced from natural renewable polymers such as wood pulp or refined cotton. It is derived through the modification of methylcellulose by introducing ethylene oxide.

HEMC is available as a white to off-white powder and remains odorless regardless of its color. It is considered safe for all animal species and environmentally friendly. Due to its excellent performance characteristics, HEMC is widely used in applications including tile adhesives, dry-mix mortars, joint fillers, wall putties/skim coats, self-leveling flooring compounds, gypsum plasters, and EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems).
