Chlorhexidine is widely used for the prevention and treatment of various oral infections, including gingivitis (such as acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis), post-dental surgery oral infections, and oral infections in patients with cancer and leukemia. It is also applied in the treatment of stomatitis and follicular stomatitis caused by bacterial or fungal infections, including those associated with denture wear.

In addition, Chlorhexidine helps reduce dental plaque and can be used as a disinfectant for medical instruments and skin, as well as a preservative in eye drop formulations.
