Products Description of Polysorbate 20 CAS#9005-64-5
Polysorbate 20, also known as Tween 20, is a surfactant that appears as a clear, yellow to amber oily liquid with a characteristic odor and a slightly bitter taste. It is widely used as a stabilizer during the manufacturing process and in the final formulations of biological products. Polysorbate 20 is manufactured through the reaction of sorbitan monolaurate with ethylene oxide. It has a relative density of 1.08–1.13 and a boiling point of 321°C. It is soluble in water, ethanol, methanol, and ethyl acetate, but insoluble in mineral oil and petroleum ether.

Product Application of Polysorbate 20 CAS#9005-64-5
Tween 20 is an oil-in-water emulsifier with a wide range of functions, including solubilization, diffusion, stabilization, lubrication, and antistatic properties. In the petroleum industry, it can serve as a paraffin inhibitor to remove wax deposits from oil wells. It can also act as a viscosity reducer, lowering crude oil viscosity, increasing oil well production, and improving transportation efficiency. In pharmaceutical and daily chemical applications, Tween 20 is used as a solubilizer, penetrant, and dispersant in medicines and cosmetics. Additionally, due to its rust-preventive and lubricating properties, it is used in the formulation of rust-preventive lubricating oils, as well as rust-removing and degreasing oils.
