Product Details

Product Description of Cesium Iodide CAS#7789-17-5

Cesium iodide (CsI), along with inorganic halides such as CsI(Tl), is widely utilized as a scintillation material in high-energy particle detection and ionizing radiation detection systems. Vacuum-deposited CsI(Tl) thin films were initially applied in X-ray imaging technologies as photoelectric conversion materials.

In advanced digital X-ray imaging applications, CsI(Tl) scintillator films are extensively used due to their excellent X-ray scintillation efficiency, high spatial resolution, and outstanding compatibility with spectrally sensitive silicon-based readout arrays.

Product Application of Cesium Iodide CAS#7789-17-5

Cesium iodide crystals are commonly used as scintillation materials in electromagnetic calorimeters for particle physics research. They can also serve as spectroscopic components in Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometers.

Compared with the widely used potassium bromide spectroscopic crystals, cesium iodide offers a broader light transmission range, with its applicable wavelength range extending further into the far-infrared region. However, due to its softness and lack of cleavage properties, producing a flat and highly polished surface can be challenging.

Cesium iodide optical crystals should be stored in dry environments to prevent reactions with moisture. Applying a germanium coating to the surface can effectively reduce the influence of atmospheric humidity during spectroscope replacement and handling.
