Product Application of DL-Limonene CAS#138-86-3
Dipentene can be used in the production of enamels, coatings, and various oil-containing resins, resin waxes, metal driers, and solvents. It is also utilized as a raw material for manufacturing synthetic resins and synthetic rubbers.
In the fragrance industry, dipentene is applied in the formulation of orange blossom essence, citrus fragrances, and other aromatic compositions, and can also serve as a substitute for lemon essential oil. Limonene can undergo directional oxidation to produce carvone; in the presence of inorganic acids, it reacts with water to form α-terpineol and hydrated terpene diol. Under the catalytic action of platinum or color catalysts, it can be hydrogenated to produce para-menthane and dehydrogenated to produce p-cymene.
Additionally, dipentene is used as an oil dispersant, rubber additive, wetting agent, and in other related applications.
