Lithium bromide is a highly efficient water vapor absorbent and an effective air humidity regulator. A 54%–55% lithium bromide solution is used as an absorbent refrigerant.
Lithium bromide appears as a white crystalline solid or aggregate, with a melting point of 162–167°C (lit.) and a density of 3.464. It is stable under normal conditions but may be sensitive to moisture. Lithium bromide is incompatible with strong acids and strong oxidizing agents.
